1. Give your back a break - this could look like using a lumbar support for your low back, taking breaks, belly breathing, heating pad, etc. Anything that will allow your hard working muscles to relax.

2. Maintain a Healthy Weight - Extra unnecessary weight does lead to more stress. One of the best ways, although not the easiest, to prevent back pain is maintaining a healthy weight, eating well, and working out consistently.

3. Work your core - The weaker your core is, the harder your back has to work and more vulnerable it becomes. Dead bugs, carries, planks are all great exercises to start training your core.

4. Lift the right way - Whether you are squatting 150 lbs or just picking up a casserole dish off the bottom shelf, it's important to lift correctly. The more you can use your legs, hips, and core, the more you are protecting your back from getting injured.

5. Change positions often - Most people tend to get pain after sitting for too long or standing for too long, so switch it up! Take microbreaks or change how you are sitting to help the muscles of your back relax.
